Portrush NW200 Event May 2025

I struggled to decide where to begin in writing about what was a fantastic weekend. First things first I suppose, it was the NW200 so crowds and bikes are a given. Our event was based at the newly built and opened Millpond Integrated Primary School. What a venue, well done Enda for securing what we hope will be a permanent feature in our annual event calendar. Space at this new venue is currently a bit restricted and so had to be a bookable event, thus Gary had already been hard at work taking the bookings and payment in advance. His work before the event was only the beginning for him as he was also on hand to ensure we all got parked up on Friday evening. The weather was unbelievably good, so much so that the usual Friday night get together was somewhat delayed as we took advantage of sitting out in the late sunshine. A good crowd gradually assembled in the hall for a good old fashioned get together and catch up.

Saturday saw us awaken to a sun that most definitely had put his hat on. Many headed to see the racing, some decided just to stay put and soak up the sun and some dandered into Portrush itself for a bit of retail therapy. Saturday night saw members gathering in the hall for another ramblers night of music dancing and craic. Sunday morning was another cracker of a day.

We gathered in the hall for our coffee morning ably supplied by Jack and his team. It was, as always, a well organised operation with a very delightful surprise in store for us with fantastic homemade chocolate cake (which I enjoyed) and what I was assured was an even better offering of coffee cake that many other members enjoyed, all expertly baked and provided by Yvonne (I suppose I have to acknowledge that Gary did help serve it). Our Chairman, David, had to leave early so our vice chair Joe led proceedings. He welcomed new members Maxi and Kim Macdonald and Geoffrey Allen. Congratulations to Pete and June Coleman on their new motorhome. No details of anyones birthday or any anniversaries were forthcoming so Joe wished us all safe home and looked forward to seeing us at our next event which was the 3 day event in Omagh. He advised that this coincided with the bluegrass festival being held in the Folk Park and anyone wishing to go should search bluegrass festival in Omagh and see details and ticket prices there.
