The gathering storm clouds and frequent showers on Friday didn’t put off the many Ramblers who arrived for the weekend, with even more joining us on Saturday. The vans were efficiently parked up by Martin and Norman, with Winnie and Cynthia meeting and greeting everyone as they arrived and ensuring they were quickly booked in.
Friday evening saw us gather in the hall for an enjoyable game of Tin-Top bingo. The winnings seemed to be evenly shared out across all the tables with the winners certainly enjoying it. The conversations then flowed between everyone, no doubt many of the worlds problems were righted! Norman and Gary treated us to a bit of music and the dancers took to the floor.
Saturday morning saw us rise to even heavier bursts of rain. This didn’t seem to deter many of us from venturing into Omagh for a bit of retail therapy and visiting the local cafes and bars. The Bluegrass festival was in full swing at the Folk Park and a few members who had bought tickets spent time at it both on Saturday and some on Sunday. Saturday night we gathered in the hall for our usual party night. DJ Joe was on hand to play the music and the dance floor was kept busy all night.
On Sunday morning we held our normal Coffee morning as a number of members couldn’t stay for the extra night. Our Chairman David thanked all the committee members who had hosted over the weekend. He thanked Martin, Winnie and Cynthia for the bingo and Norman, Gary and Joe for the music. He thanked Jack and his team once again for providing the tea and coffee. Birthday congratulations went to Ellie for next week, it was noted it was a Big one! Congratulations to those with new vans went to George and Diane Craig, Jim and Eileen Niblock and Paddy and Marie McEvoy and they were wished many years of happy motoring in them. David finished off the coffee morning by highlighting that our Magherafelt event was next weekend and we would be holding our AGM at it.
Sunday night saw those of us who had decided to stay gather in the hall for a Quiz and then music by Gary. The hard fought quiz was eventually won by Yvonne,Gary and Geraldine. Anyway the most important fact of the night was nothing to do with the quiz, but turned out to be that Jack and Florence were celebrating their 57th wedding anniversary. A big congratulations to them both. Despite the adverse weather it really was another fun filled weekend and we are looking forward to next weeks event and AGM in Magherafelt.
