Fermanagh hospitality was promised and we sure got it!!
Our hosts for the weekend were the famous locals Robert & Joy and Linzi along with Issac & Pauline who were given honorary Fermanagh citizenship especially for the occasion.
Coming through the gates we were warmly welcomed by Pauline & Joy while Robert & Issac parked up the queuing motorhomes in every available space. It was a little cold but over in the hall things soon heated up as members headed for the usual social scene.
First of all, David and Committee held a short members meeting to bring us up to speed on the latest developments coming our way. The best of all being a big programme of music in 2026 with bands arranged for almost every weekend. On top of that two big holiday events in Newcastle for Easter and Summer. Watch this space.
Next it was Linzi’s time to shine at Bingo and that girl sure doesn’t hang about. With our heads down and dabbers going overtime it was like pennies from heaven as members enjoyed the chance to win our biggest prize pot ever. Well done to all the winners and especially Mary Hoey who hit the jackpot and then the catwalk when she bought herself a lovely new coat the following day. The rest of the night was the usual craic and conversation. Helped by some easy tunes from Gary, members worked their way round the room all night getting caught up with the news of family and friends.
Shopping and scenery were next on the list as members headed out on Saturday and enjoyed Enniskillen to the full as well as a few nice meals to keep us warm and energised for a big night of dancing. As soon as the music started heads were bobbing, feet were tapping and then the wave of dancers hit the floor till quitting time. It was without doubt one of the biggest nights dancing seen for many a day. Either these dance classes are working or the drink is, because the number of men on the floor has definitely increased. Well done fellas.
The generosity continued as the double-act of Robert Monkhouse & Isaac Forsythe took to the floor and conducted a lively and exceptionally large raffle thanks to the huge number of donations from members. Linzi must have took a manual-handling training course for number of goodies she had to hand out. After that it was business as usual, and we got into practice for New Year by dancing till gone midnight.
With Margaret & Geraldine preparing the brew, coffee morning called us in for our usual farewells. While the multi-talented Robert took round the floor with table service, David led us all in a big round of applause for our hosts. They did it the only way they know how and that was to the full. They really did the club proud from beginning to end. David also welcomed our new members Robbie & Rita Cranston and Nigel & Louise and Erin McFetridge who were out with us for the first time and hopefully many more. A big welcome as well to Steve & Lesley Webb all the way from Wales to spend time with us and their friends Mark & Johneen and Jim & Julie. We hope they enjoy their trip around the Emerald Isle and hopefully come to see us again soon. Birthday wishes also to Flo Carolan who we hope is being spoiled rotten by Enda this week and also to William Lyness. Best wishes to two couples, Norman & Cynthia Willis and Paddy& Marie McEvoy who were celebrating wedding anniversaries. Celebration also for Bridget in winning the quiz. Lastly David also extended thanks to the members from Arlene and Harry Campbell. Harry has been in all our thoughts recently as he fights his way back to health. We continue to send him our best wishes and look forward to seeing them both again soon.
See you all at our next event in Magherafelt.
